Humanitarian Travel FAQ

What's is the benefit of humanitarian fares?

Humanitarian fares are often more flexible. They often allow you to change your tickets without as many penalties. Also, many humanitarian fares include three bags.

How do you qualify for humanitarian fares?

You must be traveling for humanitarian purposes like missionary work, medical work or even meetings that have a humanitarian purpose.

Are humanitarian fares cheaper?

Humanitarian fares are not always cheaper. However, we always check both humanitarian rates and published fares to see what is the best option for you.

What if I don’t have a planned return date?

We can still help! We see this scenario most often with emergency volunteers and student missionaries who will be in a country for an extended time, but can’t book a one-way flight because of visa requirements. If needed, we can book a temporary return ticket that will be canceled upon arrival and rebook when the return dates are set.

How many bags can I take?

Let us know if you have unique baggage needs! It does depend on the airline and ticket, but we strive to plan flights with your baggage needs in mind to avoid baggage nightmares like getting charged by the kilogram.

Does Butler Travel assist with visas?

We’re happy to give you a flight itinerary that some countries require to start the visa application process, but we are not able to help with or process the visa application itself.

Are there service fees with group booking?

Yes, service fees are charged per ticket and included in the quote. We do offer discounted service fees for verified humanitarian organizations.

Are you able to help with complicated itineraries or hard to reach destinations?

Yes. We are able to help you get where you need to go and find the best routes to get you there. We simplify complicated itineraries by breaking them down into sections.
